Junior Estimator
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Junior Estimator responsible for preparing estimates for hardscape construction projects including masonry & precast concrete walls, fencing & entrance gates, and community landscape projects. This role involves reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for bidding purposes or to support project planning and execution.
Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work
- Quantify material and labor requirements using takeoff & estimating software
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and material suppliers
- Collaborate with project managers, to ensure accurate and complete estimates
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions
- Track and update historical cost data for future estimates
- Identify potential risks and value engineering opportunities
- Ensure estimates comply with company and industry standards
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an estimator in masonry or related construction trades
- Strong knowledge of masonry materials, methods, and construction techniques
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., eTakeoff Dimension, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred (but not required)
